Prime Minister Modi, in a Bangkok meeting with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, expressed concern over the safety of minorities, particularly Hindus, and called for a thorough investigation into reported atrocities. He advocated for a pragmatic, constructive bilateral relationship, urging Yunus to avoid inflammatory rhetoric.

Yunus, however, countered with a call for a "reality check" against social media propaganda, emphasizing principles like territorial integrity and non-interference. He presented a list of Dhaka's priorities, including Sheikh Hasina's extradition, border killings, SAARC cooperation, and the Teesta water-sharing agreement.
While Bangladesh described the meeting as fruitful, they urged India to refrain from inflammatory statements. Modi reiterated India's support for a democratic, stable, and inclusive Bangladesh, emphasizing that India's ties are with the nation, not any specific political entity.
