In a tragic escalation of violence in Sudan, more than 114 civilians were killed in two separate attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on displacement camps in El Fasher, North Darfur, over the past two days. According to Ibrahim Khatir, head of North Darfur’s health authority, over 100 civilians died in Friday’s attack on the Zamzam camp, including nine Relief International staff.

On Saturday, another 14 people were killed and dozens injured in the Abu Shouk camp. A volunteer group, Emergency Room, reported 40 deaths and hundreds of injuries due to heavy RSF shelling on Abu Shouk the same day. The RSF has yet to respond to these allegations. Since May 10, 2024, El Fasher has witnessed intense clashes between the RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), part of a broader conflict that has raged since April 2023, claiming more than 29,600 lives across the country.
