South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed claims that white people, particularly Afrikaners, are being persecuted in South Africa. His remarks counter allegations made by US President Donald Trump, billionaire Elon Musk, and certain white minority groups, who argue that farm attacks and government policies unfairly target Afrikaners.

Without naming anyone, Ramaphosa urged South Africans not to be divided by external narratives, calling such claims "completely false." The controversy arose after Musk accused some South African political figures of promoting "white genocide," following an Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) rally where a controversial song was sung. Trump reinforced this narrative by cutting US funding to South Africa and offering Afrikaners refugee status.
While farm murders do happen, they account for only a small fraction of South Africa’s high homicide rate. Experts stress that crime affects all racial groups, though some Afrikaner groups argue farm attacks are underreported and the EFF song incites violence.
