In a video shared by the Chinese Embassy, former U.S. President Ronald Reagan warned against the dangers of tariffs. Reagan, a Republican, spoke out against tariffs in 1987, stating that they could lead to retaliation from foreign countries and trigger trade wars. He also warned that tariffs could harm domestic industries by making them reliant on government protection. Reagan's words have taken on new relevance in 2025, as the U.S. and China continue to engage in a trade war.
