The United States launched airstrikes in Yemen on Saturday, targeting Iran-backed Houthi rebels in an operation aimed at protecting American interests. According to Reuters, the strikes resulted in 24 fatalities. The US Central Command shared images on social media of fighter jets taking off from an aircraft carrier and a bombing destroying a compound in Yemen.

The military operation, initiated on March 15, involved precision strikes against Houthi targets to deter threats and safeguard global shipping routes. US President Donald Trump announced the strikes on Truth Social, warning Iran to sever ties with the Houthis. He emphasized, “Support for the Houthi terrorists must end IMMEDIATELY!” and cautioned Iran against endangering American interests.
Trump justified the strikes as a response to Houthi disruptions in the Red Sea and criticized former President Joe Biden for inaction. In retaliation, the Houthis vowed to escalate their response, declaring on Al-Masirah TV that the attacks “will not pass without response.”
